When it comes to marketing, the use of video has become the norm in advertising. As the popularity of video material grew, so did the popularity of platforms that enable the sharing of this type of content. First of all, we think of <em>YouTube<\/em> . A platform where 500 new hours of content <em>are uploaded<\/em> every minute. This fact raises a very important question, how does <em>the YouTube<\/em> algorithm work and how does <em>YouTube<\/em> search work?     <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>How does YouTube search work?<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>Google<\/em> made an effort to answer this question and <span style=\"color: #fd6600;\"><a style=\"color: #fd6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/howyoutubeworks\/\">launched a separate site on the <em>YouTube<\/em> platform, so to speak,<\/a><\/span> that provides the necessary information that users need to explain by what criteria <em>YouTube<\/em> ranks videos and how <em>YouTube<\/em> search works. We will present a summary of what the instructions posted here contain. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1659262823285{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}&#8221;]<span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>YouTube<\/em> &#8216;s search ranking system sorts through over 500 hours of content uploaded every minute to find the most relevant results for a query.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">What criteria are important?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>YouTube<\/em> Search gives the highest priority to these three criteria when ranking search results:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>Relevance<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>Engagement<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>Quality<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Relevance<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\">YouTube&#8217;s ranking algorithm considers many factors when determining the relevance of content. Without going into too much detail, <em>YouTube<\/em> points out the importance of factors such as the title, <em>tags<\/em> , description and the video content itself. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Engagement<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>The most important signal used when measuring traffic for a particular video is the watch time of a particular video for a particular query. YouTube  <\/em>notes that engagement signals are also a valuable way to determine relevance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Quality<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\">To determine quality, YouTube uses signals that search marketers should be very familiar with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\">&#8220;Finally, for quality, our systems are designed to identify signals that can help determine which channels demonstrate expertise, authority and trustworthiness on a given topic.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\">In addition to the three main factors above, <em>YouTube<\/em> also tries to determine relevance for each user, taking into account the user&#8217;s search history and views. That is why it is not uncommon for search results to differ from one user to another for the same query. <em>YouTube<\/em> search and viewing history can be deleted at any time, in which case <em>YouTube<\/em> search results will not take these signals into account. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><em>YouTube<\/em> notes that it prioritizes content from authoritative sources when appropriate. This may include content categories such as news, politics, and medical or scientific information.
